Hey guys,

As I still love Assault mod, I would like to make it a bit more popular and in order to do so, I suggest to create a tournament especially for Assault. We coudl do it, by team or individually, as you want. I think that more maps would also help the server, so here is one more and there may be another one in the following weeks/months.

Soooo... I present you ut4_spyro_cuby_assault



Here is the map: ut4_spyro_cuby_assault_2

This map as nothing to do with the last one, this time we are in Assault gametype of teleport (as we had no maps for this Assault gametype before).

Here are the diferents environments:
1) Cube's mess (globally cubes everywhere)
2) Darkness and water
3) Traffic jam (you'll understand what I'm talking about when you'll try the map)
4) Icy and sniping

I hope you'll enjoy it

Alpha 1:
- Fix the Sentry bug (done)
- Date of release: released

Alpha 2:
- Fix the trigger_only (done)
- Let the blue team defend the final checkpoint x) (done)
- Fix the last door (done)

And ye I fixed the light problem, and I used this "bug" to make the dark part

You made another map Top :D. I wish I could make maps :'(  Maybe we should create a warning on the bottom left saying, dont play this map in the dark XD. Bright blue! I love blue!

We need more maps, so if you want to make some, it's when you want!

And I think this blue won't be sooooo bright, but ye, still a bit :D

Nice map, it's nice to have an assault map that doesn't cripple my fps for once :D
Why didn't you add real lava at Traffic Jam?

Alpha 1 is already there as an importnat problem has been reported =)

• at Darkness and Traffic Jam the blue team can open the teleports like normal doors (I believe it should open only when the red team reaches the checkpoint).

• at the final icy room you make the blue team spawn in the upper areas, but it's all weaponclipped. So they can't shoot through, altho they can be shot at if they get too close to the edge. Right now all they can do is watch the red team slide their way to the final checkpoint.

• also it looks like the last door (with the sentries behind it) doesn't open when you reach the last checkpoint, even tho you can hear the message.



About the lava thing: you can find default lava textures in the base pak zUrT42_0002 in the "liquids" folder, but I think what you're missing is proper shaders.

Thanks for your help Mr.Yeah. About the last door, I used the second func_door, where the defaut lip is 8, it'll be fixed for the next alpha =)

I'll also fix the other problems, that I both already fixed, but I forgot to remake those things after my computer crashed =(

You tried making a map that has something like this?

Red team spawn in a single area, while blue attempt to get to finish.

Blue has to evade all the obstacles using jump
and stealth techniques.

This arena would best suited in tdm, but could be good on ts.

In tdm, Red has to snipe Blue to prevent them from finishing, blue has to evade the snippets and obstacles.

In ts, red has to snipe Blue as above, but no respawn and a limit of 16 rounds untill team change.

Same applies for tdm, time limit 16 minutes to reach end before team change.

If Blue manages to avoid red and get to end, a message would be displayed stating blue has passed the level. Teleporting them to the next level.

There are 3 stages to pass.

If Blue gets to end of stage 1, a teleport opens, allowing red to enter the next stage.

If Blue finishes all 3 stages. Mr sentry is then unloaded upon all 3 red chambers, and game ends and cycles the team change.

Each red chamber is situated at the end, with a protective, 1 way shooting barrier. So blue cannot kill red. Blue has lots of cover to evade reds fire. Blue also has the ability of different rputes to take. Each route dangerous. The obstacle course itself, has jumps, mazes, gaps, lava and moveable walls, to attempt to trick Red.

Each stage is harder than the next, though not too hard so a normal beginner player can pasd.

This arena is a mixture of;
Jump
Tdm/ts
Deathrun (minus the switches)
Assault.
Maybe even Splinter cell (stealth game for xbox360)

I know this idea works, as I specifically remember a map on 4.1 that is exactly described like this. Though I cannot remember the name. Anyone think that they can create such a map?

Seems like a good idea. Just remember that some people might not be good at jumps so don't put any excessive ones as then we wont get new players on our servers.

Sounds interesting, is it a bit like the map ut4_orb?

Btw, where would you put that map? Deathrun or Assault?

It rings a bell, we should put it with Assault. Maybe even create a Per orb map?

I played that Spyro map, and I really liked it, especially the dark and icy room. Very fun. Played both on Red and Blue team. +1 for Topfox.

The ut4_orb has a texture bug, there is a texture missing, so we would anyway need to remake it --> In a map for our clan :D The prob is that I don't know how to create models (I know that it's with Blender, but there are several things to do to use it in GTK and I dunno them. So unless Kurokei would make the orb, I can't do anything )

Edit: I actully find a way to create this orb, I'll make the Per Orb map =) Want a cuby map or a normal map?
